Home Worker connection requirements

To ensure the best quality of Home Worker calls, your internet connection needs to have sufficient bandwidth available.

Transfer speed

The minimum transfer speed required is 1 Mbps, both for upload and download. If you need more than one One Net desk phone for your site, we recommend adding 500 Kbps per desk phone to your transfer speed.

If your Internet Service Provider (ISP) offers an "unlimited data" package, we recommend buying this package for Home Worker. With unlimited data:

  • You can make as many calls as you want.
  • Your calls will never be blocked because you ran out of data transfer.
Note

Connection quality

Vodafone One Net doesn't control the quality of your home or business broadband connection.

Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)

One Net desk phones are compatible with all routers and broadband connection providers that support SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) for VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) calls. To use Home Worker, make sure your ISP allows SIP traffic on your network.

Your router settings

If you want to use Home Worker, you need to:

  • Make sure your router allows SIP traffic.
  • Disable all VoIP settings on your router, for example, the application-level gateway, so the SIP packets are never blocked.
  • Open specific ports in your firewall, for example, UDP port 5060.

Contact your ISP for specific setup instructions.

Connectivity of One Net desk phones

Because of high latency, you can't use satellite broadband connection with your One Net desk phones.

We also don't recommend using One Net desk phones with the following:

  • WiMAX standards
  • Bonded DSL lines
  • Secure firewalls
